Why we love Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence is a charming city in the south of France, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, about 30 km north of Marseille. It is home to approximately 148,000–150,000 residents, known as Aixois.

WE LOVE

THE CLIMATE

We love Aix for its sunny Mediterranean weather. Warm, dry summers, mild winters, and pleasant spring and autumn days make outdoor life a joy. Even the occasional Mistral wind keeps the skies clear and the air fresh, perfect for enjoying everything Aix has to offer.

THE FOOD

We love Aix for its fresh markets, charming cafés, and Provençal cuisine. Its central location makes it easy to explore vineyards, olive groves, and the best of southern French gastronomy.

EXPLORE THE AREA

We love that you can visit Marseille, hike the stunning Calanques, wander the villages of Le Luberon, relax by the Mediterranean, or explore the Provençal mountains. There’s something for every lover of nature, coast, and culture just a short drive away. And Paris is only a 3-hour train ride away.

GREAT EXPAT COMMUNITY

We love that Aix‑en‑Provence is home to a warm and growing expat community. While it remains a predominantly French city, you’ll find a mix of internationales, especially students and professionals, drawn by its dynamic, cosmopolitan vibe. There are a few high-quality international schools nearby: the CIPEC International School, International School of Provence (IBS), Sainte Victoire International School (SVIS), Lycée International Georges‑Duby, a public lycée with English and German sections. If you want to learn more about the schools, the admission process just contact us and we will help you to get your kids in.

CULTURE

We love that Aix is a hub for arts and culture. The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence brings world-class opera and music each summer, while local theatres and events like the Easter Festival offer theatre, classical concerts, and innovative performances year-round. The city’s cultural life is vibrant, diverse, and inspiring.

APERO

We love starting our evenings in Aix-en-Provence with an apéro (le Grillon at the Cours Mirabeau is one of our favourites), a refreshing rosé paired with a few tasty snacks. It’s the perfect way to unwind, soak in the lively atmosphere, and enjoy a slow, relaxed start before heading to dinner.
